Venue
The venue for the 2027 Benthic Ecology Meetings is the campus of UMass Boston. The welcome social will be held Monday evening at the UMass Boston’s Integrated Sciences Complex and the meeting talks, lunch, and poster session will be held in the Campus Center, right on the edge of Boston Harbor.
Hotel Accommodations
We will have two official hotel options for BEM 2027.
DoubleTree by Hilton Bayside
The first is the DoubleTree by Hilton Boston Bayside. You may use this link to make a reservation. If you cannot use the preceeding link, you can also able to call the main DoubleTree reservation line at 1-800-222-TREE and reference the DoubleTree by Hilton Boston Bayside - Benthic Ecological Meeting Society.
We have a room block of 125 rooms for the duration of the meeting (M-F), and 30 rooms for Sunday for those who need to arrive early for workshops on Monday or who are planning to attend the Sunday South Boston St. Patrick’s Day parade. We have arranged a discounted rate of $219/night plus taxes (sales tax rate is 6.25%, Food and Beverage tax of 0.75%, and a hotel occupancy tax of 16.45%). The deadline for reservations is Tuesday, February 16, 2027.
Note: the link for our room block defaults to reserving starting on the 14th. If you are not arriving until the day of the welcome social, change this to Monday the 15th
Hotel check-in time is 3 PM, and check-out time is 12 PM.
To get to the meeting venue, you can catch a campus (NOT MBTA) shuttle bus at St. Christopher’s Church across the street - 263 Mt Vernon St - and it will take you straight to the Campus Center or, further, to the ISC. Directions here. The bus should take ~5 minutes and leaves every 10-15 minutes. Alternately, you can walk to the campus center in about 15-20 minutes.
Second Hotel TBD!
We have one more hotel coming. It will be on the MBTA Red Line, and thus attendees will be able to take a quick trip to the JFK/UMass MBTA stop, where shuttles will bring you straight to the front doors of the Campus Center or around the corner to the ISC.
Transportation
Boston is easily accessible by flying to Boston Logan airport or by taking the Amtrak Northeast Regional or Acela to South Station if coming from South of Boston or on the Downeaster to North Station if coming from North. Commuter rail options are available as well for those coming from Western Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and southern New Hampshire. The southern commuter rail lines include a stop at the JFK/UMass MBTA stop where you can board a shuttle to campus.
The Doubletree provides free shuttle service to and from Boston Logan airport from 6am to 10pm. Upon arrival, text 617-433-9800 for pickup.
